I just saw a salary survey for IT staff in Singapore in a local IT magazine.
The good news is that IT salaries are up. The bad news is that the average now for programmers is a little under a whopping €1700/month! A project manager can earn the princely sum of about €3000/month. And let's not forget that tax has to come out of this (albeit at a lower level than home).
So, proof that it's a waste of time trying for a job here. Today is my last day of looking/waiting. As of tomorrow morning, I shall be officially on the way home. I can't stay here forever with no income and practically paying for 2. I tried (on every front!), but it was not to be.
Ah well, I'll soon be complaining about the cold on my "Aidan (back) in Ireland" blog!!!

Thats too bad that you can't get a decent well paid job there. I will be delighted to see you back here of course, but what of the relationship, do you think you can sustain it, I do hope so as you seem very happy apart from the lack of work, and I admire you for giving it all a whirl, as it is a huge culture change for anyone. M.
Thanks for that, M! The prognosis does not look good on the romantic front either, I'm afraid.
The fat lady hasn't started singing yet, but I hear her warming up her vocal chords in the background (or that could just be the neighbour again!!)!
